After his literary liberation in "The End of Eddy", the French writer Édouard Louis returns to his father, with whom there has been no contact for years. He encounters a man whose body is scarred by a serious industrial accident. Where once anger and shame characterized their relationship, now a loving rapprochement begins. Louis' realization that belonging to a certain class always means being judged makes him raise an indictment against a political system that literally fights its battles on the backs of the poorest.
Édouard Louis, now 30 years old, places himself literarily in the tradition of Annie Ernaux and, along with her and Didier Eribon, has long been considered an important representative of French-language autosociobiography, a narrative form in which the portrayal of one's own life is always closely linked to the analysis of sociopolitical developments.
Accompanied by Annelie Korn and Isabel Tetzner in a scenic-artistic way, Martin Esser and Fabian Hagen as actors confront Édouard Louis' impressive examination of the weight and consequences of one's own origins.
