Quiet City

Chamber concert of the Staatskapelle Weimar

Aaron Copland »Quiet City« for trumpet, English horn and piano (1940)
Georges Enescu »Légende« for trumpet and piano (1906)
Miguel del Aguila Broken Rondo for English horn and piano (2010)
Paul Hindemith Sonata for trumpet and piano (1939)

To immerse yourself completely, to escape from everyday life into a world full of pleasure and associations - we offer the perfect setting for this. The centerpiece of the chamber concert - in the unusual instrumentation with trumpet, oboe/English horn and piano - is Aaron Copland's trio "Quiet City," which comes from the never-performed incidental music to the 1939 play of the same name. So what could be more exciting than to dive into an aura of silence, between trepidation and genuine coming to rest, which stimulates all the more to conscious listening! Compositions in changing instrumentation by George Enescu, Miguel del Aguila und Paul Hindemith complete the programme.

A fascinating journey of sound colors!
