We open the new chamber music season with two real string quartet highlights. Mendelssohn's op. 44 No. 1 is formally noticeably oriented on the model of the late Beethoven, but full of ingenious refinement, the composer here combines virtuosity with strict movement and joy of playing with tension-rich condensations. Dvorák's "American" Quartet inspires with its optimistic mood of departure; a new beginning bursting with musical energy!
